Osimhen Named Among Current Best Three Strikers In Europe
Former Sierra Leone international Michael Lahoud has rated Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen among the three best forwards currently playing in Europe, alongside England captain Harry Kane and France superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Lahoud made the assessment while discussing Galatasaray’s chances in the UEFA Champions League, expressing confidence that the Turkish champions possess enough attacking quality to compete strongly against some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to the former midfielder, Osimhen’s goalscoring ability puts him in the same elite category as Kane and Mbappe, while the arrival of Portuguese winger Rafael Leao could further strengthen Galatasaray’s attacking threat.
“Galatasaray has arguably the best striker in Europe right now alongside Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen,” Lahoud said on the CBS Sports Golazo Network.
Lahoud also backed Galatasaray to make a deep impression during the Champions League league phase, pointing specifically to the potential impact of the partnership between Osimhen and Leao.
He described Leao as a major “X factor” for the Turkish side and believes his pace, creativity and ability to create chances could give Galatasaray another dimension against Europe’s established teams.
“I stand on business when I say that the numbers don’t lie when it comes to the Champions League. But the fact that Galatasaray have Rafael Leao, I think that becomes a real X factor,” he stated.
The former Sierra Leone international went further by predicting that Galatasaray would finish among the top eight teams at the end of the Champions League league phase.
“Galatasaray will finish the Champions League league phase in the top eight this season,” Lahoud added.
Osimhen is expected to remain at the heart of Galatasaray’s ambitions in both domestic and European competitions. The Nigerian forward has established himself as one of the most feared strikers in European football, with his pace, strength, movement and finishing making him a constant threat to opposition defences.
With Leao also adding quality and creativity to the attack, expectations will be high that Galatasaray can challenge some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
For Osimhen, the assessment from Lahoud further underlines the growing recognition of his status among the continent’s elite forwards, with Nigerian supporters hoping the Super Eagles star can continue his impressive goalscoring form on the biggest European stage.
