Hon. (AVM Rtd.) Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, the lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I in the House of Representatives, has commenced the construction of a Skill Acquisition Centre in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The project was officially launched with a turning-of-the-sod ceremony held at the BOUESTI Study Centre along Uso Road, Ise-Ekiti. The ceremony attracted traditional rulers and chiefs, academics, political leaders, opinion leaders, community stakeholders, party members and other residents of the Ise/Orun communities.

Speaking at the event, the Project Supervisor, Engr. Gbenga Omole, said the centre was designed to empower youths in Ise/Orun with practical skills that would improve their productivity, promote self-reliance, create employment opportunities and contribute to the development of the communities.

Omole explained that the facility would provide training in several vocational areas, including welding and fabrication, carpentry and furniture making, tailoring, automobile mechanics, plumbing and electrical installation. He urged youths in the communities to take advantage of the opportunities that would become available when the centre is completed.

Representing the traditional institution, the Asamo of Ise-Ekiti, Chief Michael Ojo, commended Ojuawo for attracting what he described as a laudable and impactful project to the community. He said the project would provide hope and succour to many young people while contributing to the socio-economic development of Ise/Orun.

“My dear son, whom I am well pleased with, honestly, I am extremely happy to be here to witness this project. You are doing well. My coming here is not about politics; I am here to appreciate my son with my presence. Ojuawo, it is well with you, and every next level you attain shall be your stepping stone, by the grace of God,” Ojo said.

He urged the lawmaker to remain committed to serving humanity and supporting initiatives capable of improving the lives of residents in the communities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ojuawo expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers, chiefs, community leaders, political stakeholders, APC members, associations and residents who attended the event. He explained that the decision to locate the Skill Acquisition Centre beside the BOUESTI Study Centre was deliberate, as the facility would complement the institution’s academic programmes by providing practical training facilities.

According to him, discussions with Elder Tunji Falana led to the decision to site the project beside the study centre. He said the centre would provide facilities for practical courses that could not previously be offered because of inadequate infrastructure.

Ojuawo also disclosed plans to construct 12 additional standard classrooms, with the aim of developing the facility into a campus capable of accommodating a faculty. He said the expansion became necessary because the BOUESTI Study Centre required additional facilities to function effectively and accommodate more academic programmes.

“The project will commence immediately. I discussed with Elder Tunji Falana, and we agreed to have this project beside the BOUESTI Study Centre to support courses that require practical training but could not previously be offered because of the lack of such facilities. I will also add 12 standard classrooms to make this place a campus that can host a faculty, as advised by the school management,” he said.

The lawmaker also appealed to residents to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urged them to vote massively for the President in the 2027 general election.

“Therefore, my good people, please let us vote massively for our dear President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let us vote overwhelmingly for him,” Ojuawo appealed.

Also speaking, Chief Esan Ikori urged the people of Ise/Orun to continue supporting development programmes and initiatives attracted to the communities through Ojuawo. He stressed the importance of sustaining support for projects that directly benefit the people.

Professor Kolawole, in his remarks, commended Ojuawo for what he described as his commitment to keeping promises and delivering on his commitments to the people. He also encouraged residents to take advantage of the BOUESTI Study Centre by enrolling in the programmes available at the institution.

“The university study centre is at your doorstep. Please come over and join us,” he said.

In his closing remarks, Comrade Femi Babalola appreciated the guests for honouring the invitation and expressed optimism that the Ise/Orun communities would witness more developmental projects under the representation of Ojuawo.

The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, academics, political stakeholders and other members of the communities, including Chief Michael Ojo, Chief Esan Ikori, Elder Tunji Falana, Prof. Kolawole, Prof. Philip Adetiloye, Baba Bode, Hon. Ropo Ogunbolude, Baba Asako, Hon. Femi Babalola, Engr. Gbenga Omole, Engr. Bayo Olotin, Engr. Sunday Aguda, Hon. Deji Ajayi, party executives, ward chairmen and other stakeholders.
