ICPC Questions Ekiti APC Rep Candidate Toyin Okoro Over Alleged Fraud
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ise-Orun/Ikere/Ekiti Federal Constituency, Toyin Okoro, over alleged fraud and breaches of public service rules.
Okoro, a former Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, appeared at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday following an invitation from the anti-graft agency.
The invitation, dated September 7, 2026, was signed by Oshinyemi Oluwaseun, Head of the ICPC Special Duty Team, on behalf of the commission’s chairman.
He arrived at the commission’s headquarters at about 2pm and was later taken into an interrogation room, where investigators questioned him for more than two hours.
Okoro was released on bail at about 5pm and was asked to return for further questioning at a later date.
According to the invitation notice, the ICPC is investigating him over alleged offences under the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
The commission reportedly accused Okoro of operating a private company while serving as a Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly, contrary to public service regulations.
He was also accused of using his position as a public servant to secure contracts for the private company from government agencies, including the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
The ICPC is also said to be examining claims that Okoro received salaries and allowances from the National Assembly while allegedly remaining a beneficial owner of the private company.
The politician was further accused of allegedly falsifying and backdating a resignation letter after the matter was reported to anti-corruption agencies.
Another allegation under investigation concerns his submissions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The ICPC reportedly questioned claims made in his documents based on information obtrom the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and records from the National Assembly.
Okoro’s appearance before the ICPC comes as he prepares to contest the Ise-Orun/Ikere/Ekiti Federal Constituency seat on the APC platform in the 2027 general election.
As of the time of filing this report, Okoro had not publicly responded to the allegations.
