Inaugurates 2,000 Ward Executives, Targets Other South West States for Tinubu’s Re-Election
The political tempo in Ondo State rose yesterday as the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) formally inaugurated its state chapter with the commissioning of a befitting secretariat in Akure and the inauguration of more than 2,000 executives across the 203 political wards in the state.
The colourful ceremony witnessed a massive turnout of party loyalists, cultural troupes, political leaders, and grassroots supporters. Popular musician Buga thrilled the crowd during the unveiling, giving the event a festive touch that underscored its significance.
In his remarks, Evangelist Muyiwa Asagunla, Director General of AMG, said the new edifice will not only serve as the Ondo State secretariat but is designed to become the group’s national headquarters. He noted that similar structures are already springing up in Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos States, pointing to the group’s expansion drive across the South West.
Asagunla praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing two indigenes of Ondo State, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister of Interior and Ayodele Olawande as Minister of Youth, a development he said has further endeared the President to the people of the state. He pledged that Ondo State would surpass the 68.9 percent votes delivered to Tinubu in 2023, stressing that the President’s people-oriented reforms are already yielding results.
Highlighting Tinubu’s economic interventions, he cited the NELFUND project, which allows Nigerian youths to access tertiary education loans without political connection and repay only ten years after securing employment. He also noted the monthly stipends available for students in tertiary and technical schools, describing them as life-changing initiatives.
On the controversial fuel subsidy removal, Asagunla explained that the policy had long been exploited by a few individuals, insisting that Tinubu took a courageous step in ending it. He admitted that Nigerians initially experienced hardship but pointed out that prices of basic goods and petrol are already stabilising, showing that the economy is on the path of recovery.
Also speaking, Senator Yele Omogunwa, Chairman of the AMG Elders Council, lauded President Tinubu for embarking on road projects previously abandoned and for his bold reforms that have improved inflation rates and reduced pump prices.
Similarly, Hon. Otito Atikase, Ondo State Representative on the NDDC Board, said the AMG was established to mobilise and enlighten people at the grassroots about the achievements of President Tinubu. He emphasized that the group is not yet campaigning but laying the groundwork for 2027, ensuring that Ondo State will deliver unprecedented support for the President.
In his goodwill message, Engineer Babajobi Babatunde, Director of Special Duties, AMG, pointed out that although several support groups are mobilising for the President, AMG remains one of the most organised and effective. He disclosed that apart from state and local government executives, 2,030 ward coordinators were inaugurated, ten from each of the 203 wards, to strengthen the group’s structure ahead of 2027.
The high point of the event was the symbolic hoisting of the AMG flag at the Akure secretariat and the inauguration of ward executives, followed by cultural displays and solidarity chants of “Tinubu 2027”.
With the commissioning of its state secretariat, the inauguration of over 2,000 grassroots executives, and plans to spread across the South West, the Asiwaju Mandate Group has firmly established itself as a key force in the consolidation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his 2027 re-election bid.
