The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced the commencement of a nationwide re-verification exercise for civil servants who were recruited between 2013 and 2020 but failed to participate in the 2021 verification exercise. This exercise is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 18 to Thursday, August 28, 2025, and will be held at designated venues from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, except on Friday, August 22, when activities will close by 3:00 p.m.
In an official circular dated 4th August 2025 and signed by Ndiomu Ebiogeh Philip, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, affected officers are instructed to check their names on the Commission’s website at www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng or on the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s website at www.ohcsf.gov.ng. Officers are also advised to consult their ministry notice boards for confirmation.
The re-verification is part of the Commission’s efforts to cleanse the payroll system and ensure that only genuinely appointed officers remain in service. Officers who have been posted out of their original ministries, placed on secondment or study leave, are also required to participate. Failure to appear for the exercise will be interpreted as an attempt to avoid detection of irregular employment, and such individuals may be presumed to be holding fake letters of appointment.
Each officer is expected to present both the original and photocopies of key documents. These include the letter of offer of temporary appointment, letter of regularisation/permanent appointment, letter of last promotion, letter of staff changes, the gazette of appointment and confirmation, and the IPPIS payslip for July 2025.
The schedule for the re-verification exercise has been broken down by ministry and date. Ministries such as Agriculture, Power, Defence, Labour, Works, Justice, Education, Environment, Information, Housing, Petroleum Resources, and others are each assigned a specific day to appear. Officers are advised to strictly adhere to the timetable as no extensions will be granted.
Additionally, those who have recently been verified by the Commission do not need to participate in this re-verification round.
The FCSC has urged all concerned to treat the content of the circular with seriousness and comply fully with the instructions, as non-compliance may result in serious administrative consequences.
