The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized former Senate President, David Mark, as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), putting to rest the party’s long-running internal leadership crisis.
The confirmation was made on Wednesday in Abuja, following INEC’s update of the ADC’s records on its official website, which now reflects the party’s new executive structure.
According to the updated records, former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has been named the National Secretary of the party, while Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad assumes the role of National Treasurer. Akibu Dalhatu is listed as the National Financial Secretary, and former Edo State governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, has been confirmed as the National Legal Adviser.
The development marks a significant turning point for the ADC, which has faced months of internal wrangling over its leadership. Party stakeholders say the resolution of the dispute and INEC’s recognition of the new executives will strengthen the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters have expressed optimism that the new leadership under David Mark will bring stability, unity, and renewed direction to the ADC’s political agenda.
