Angola To Open Visa, Investment Centre In Port Harcourt Tomorrow

The Embassy of Angola in Nigeria has announced the opening of a new visa application centre in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The centre aims to provide convenience to applicants by eliminating the need to travel to Abuja or Lagos for visa processing. The inauguration of the centre will take place on Tuesday, 2nd April, coinciding with Angola’s Day of Peace and National Reconciliation.

Angola currently operates two visa centres in Nigeria, located in Lagos and Abuja. The new centre in Port Harcourt will offer a range of services, including visa applications, hotel reservations, ticket sales, and air connectivity to destinations served by Angola’s national airline, TAAG. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by special guest H.E. Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, along with H.E. Ambassador José Bamóquina ZAU, who will oversee the event. The centre aims to foster economic, cultural, and tourist relations between Angola and Nigeria.

Port Harcourt, situated in the Niger Delta region with a population of around 10 million, is a significant hub for the petroleum and petrochemical industries. The area is home to major refineries, seaports, universities, and scientific and technological institutions. Many individuals involved in Angola’s oil and gas sector, including businessmen and technicians, hail from this region. The local authorities are keen on enhancing academic cooperation by promoting training programs and internships in the oil and gas industry.

The opening of the new visa application centre in Port Harcourt will facilitate travel and strengthen ties between Angola and Nigeria, particularly in the areas of business, culture, and tourism.
