The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the official timetable and schedule of activities for the 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State. The document, signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, His Excellency, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines the critical dates and procedures aspirants and members must follow leading up to the party’s primary election and eventual submission of its governorship candidate.
According to the timetable, the notice of election to the state chapter was issued on Friday, July 25, 2025. The update of the party’s membership register will commence on Monday, July 28, 2025, and close on Friday, August 15, 2025. Only members whose names appear on the register and who are up to date in their membership dues by February 2025 will be eligible to vote or be voted for.
The sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for governorship aspirants is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 18, and run through Monday, September 2, 2025. The deadline for submission of completed forms and delegate forms is set for Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Screening of aspirants will take place on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The results of the screening will be published on Friday, September 25, 2025, with a screening appeal scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2025. The delegates’ congress will follow on Thursday, October 2, 2025, while the delegate congress appeal is scheduled for Friday, October 3, 2025.
The APC primary election will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, and any appeals arising from the exercise will be entertained between Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30, 2025. The party’s National Executive Committee will ratify the results in accordance with the Electoral Act on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Subsequently, the collection of access codes for nomination form submission will begin on Monday, November 10, 2025. The list of nominated candidates is to be submitted to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) by Wednesday, January 7, 2026, while the final list of candidates must be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Friday, January 16, 2026.
Regarding the cost of nomination, the party pegged the total fees at ₦50 million, with ₦10 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦40 million for the Nomination Form. However, female aspirants and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) are exempted from paying for the Expression of Interest Form, and the Nomination Form is free for them. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 are also entitled to a 50% discount on the Nomination Form.
Meanwhile, the delegate form costs ₦5,000, and members who wish to elect delegates must have been financially up to date for no less than three months before the delegate congress, at a minimum payment of ₦200 per month.
