Prominent legal practitioner and senior advocate, Barrister Obafemi Adewale, SAN, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his political ward — Iloro/Ijurin Ward under Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The formal declaration took place today at the ward secretariat, where party leaders, supporters, and loyalists gathered to welcome the distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria into the APC fold. The event marks a significant development in the political structure of Ijero LGA, as Barr. Adewale is widely regarded as one of Ekiti’s respected legal minds and public affairs commentators.
In a brief address during the event, Barr. Adewale stated that his decision to join the APC was based on his desire to align with a political platform that reflects his progressive ideals and commitment to the development of Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.
“My interest is not about self, but about the collective good of our people. I believe the APC provides a more focused direction for growth and governance,” he said.
APC ward leaders and local government officials described his entrance into the party as “a welcome boost,” expressing confidence that his experience, influence, and integrity would strengthen the party’s grassroots engagement in the build-up to future elections.
Barr. Obafemi Adewale, SAN, has built a long and distinguished career in law, serving in various legal and public capacities, and is known for his advocacy for good governance and rule of law in the state and beyond.
Political observers see his defection as a strategic move that could reshape local dynamics in Ijero and further energize the APC structure in Ekiti State, particularly as the 2026 governorship race draws near.
