In a tragic incident, a Point of Sale (POS) agent, popularly known as Alfa Taofeek, was killed by unknown gunmen in the Teaching Hospital Road area of Ado Ekiti on Monday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred as Alfa Taofeek was opening his shop after dropping off his children at school. Eyewitnesses state that two men on a motorcycle approached the POS agent and opened fire, killing him and making off with his cash and other valuables.
“The Alfa was just starting his day when these men struck. They came on a motorcycle and shot him before fleeing with his money and other things,” a source who wished to remain anonymous told our correspondent.
The police have confirmed the incident and stated that Alfa Taofeek’s body has been deposited at the morgue. Sympathizers who rushed to the scene described the deceased as a humble and easygoing individual, urging the authorities to find the perpetrators and end such killings.
This attack comes just days after a similar incident in the Okesa area of the state capital, where an Okada (motorcycle) ticket operator was gunned down by assailants on a motorcycle.
The Ekiti State Police Command has launched an investigation into the latest killing, promising to leave no stone unturned in apprehending the suspects and bringing them to justice. Residents have called for increased security measures to protect businesses and citizens in the state.
