Tension has gripped Ekiti State ahead of the scheduled visit of Engr. Kayode Ojo, a leading contender in the 2026 Ekiti governorship race, following allegations of threats made against one of his supporters.
A resident of the town, Mrs. Adenle, alleged that the Ikere Local Government Chairman, Hon. Olu Adamolekun, and the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Victor (popularly known as VC), threatened her over her mobilisation efforts for Engr. Ojo’s political campaign.
According to Mrs. Adenle, the two political figures warned her not to be seen anywhere near Ikere or Ado again. She said the threats came as Engr. Kayode Ojo prepares to arrive in the state tomorrow for his consultation tour ahead of the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election slated for October 27, 2025.
She said, “They called me and threatened that I should stop mobilising people for Engr. Ojo. I am only exercising my right to support whoever I believe in. Since then, I have been living in fear”.
Mrs. Adenle disclosed that she has reported the matter to the police but still fears for her safety, appealing to the authorities to intervene and ensure her protection.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Hon. Olu Adamolekun, Chairman of Ikere Local Government, and Mr. Victor, the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, for their reactions to the allegations proved abortive
Despite the tension, supporters of Engr. Kayode Ojo have been urged to remain peaceful and law-abiding while coming out in large numbers to welcome the aspirant, whom many describe as a credible and people-oriented leader committed to the progress and unity of Ekiti State.
