In the wake of recent fatal shootings of innocent citizens in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State Police Command has announced a major security clampdown to arrest the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
According to a press release issued on June 20th, 2024, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, has ordered the deployment of operatives from the tactical and intelligence units across the state, particularly in the capital Ado-Ekiti. This deployment will be done in collaboration with other security agencies and local security outfits to ensure maximum protection of lives and properties.
“The Command enjoins everyone to remain calm, law abiding and go about their lawful businesses without any form of apprehension,” the statement read. However, it warned that anyone found breaching the peace would face the wrath of the law.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abutu Sunday, urged citizens to be security conscious, vigilant, and provide credible and timely information that could aid in apprehending criminal elements in the society.
This comes after a POS agent, popularly known as Alfa Taofeek, was killed by unknown gunmen in the Teaching Hospital Road area of Ado-Ekiti on Monday. A similar incident occurred just days earlier in the Okesa area, where an Okada (motorcycle) ticket operator was also gunned down. Hihi
