The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, on Tuesday led a high-powered delegation of lawmakers to Agbeyewa Farms, one of Africa’s fast-growing agro-allied investments, located across Ipaọ, Itapaji and Egede/Iyemero axis of Ekiti State.
The legislative visit was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the government and private investors in repositioning agriculture as a catalyst for food security, economic growth, and rural development in the state.
Agbeyewa Farms, a subsidiary of Cavista Holdings, is a large-scale agricultural enterprise with focus on cassava cultivation, aggregation, processing, and trading. The farm is reputed for deploying modern mechanized farming techniques, high-quality seedlings, and sustainable practices that aim to boost productivity while also empowering local communities.
Speaking during the tour of facilities, Speaker Aribasoye underscored the strategic role of private investors in transforming Nigeria’s agriculture, noting that the 7th Assembly is fully committed to supporting enabling laws and policies that attract sustainable investments.
“Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy, and private ventures like Agbeyewa are proving that with the right investment and technology, we can not only achieve food sufficiency but also create jobs and wealth for our people,” Aribasoye said.
The lawmakers held interactive sessions with the management team of the farm, where discussions centered on opportunities for agro-industrial growth, infrastructural challenges, and possible government interventions to enhance productivity.
Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, who signed the statement on behalf of the delegation, said the visit underscores the 7th Assembly’s determination to create a legislative framework that encourages private sector participation in agriculture.
Agbeyewa Farms, which already engages hundreds of local farmers and youths, reaffirmed its mission to transform lives through sustainable agro-allied investments while contributing significantly to the socio-economic advancement of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
The visit, according to observers, signals a renewed commitment by the State Assembly to position agriculture at the heart of Ekiti’s economic agenda and to foster stronger synergy between lawmakers, the executive, and private sector investors.
