The Federal Polytechnic Ayede, located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has appointed Mr. Sunday Adepoju as the Acting Director of its newly established Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR).
Mr. Adepoju, who has been serving as the Acting Head of Protocols and Public Relations Unit, received his appointment through a letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Akin Odesola. The appointment, approved by the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed and the institution’s Management, took effect on June 4, 2025.
In his appreciation message, the new Acting Director expressed his deep gratitude to the Rector, Deputy Rector Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo, Registrar Mr. Akin Odesola, Bursar Alhaja Rashidat Titilola Oladepo, Polytechnic Librarian Dr. Samuel Oke Ogunniyi, and the entire Polytechnic community for the trust placed in him. He also acknowledged the support of the Governing Council led by Hon. Yakubu Dati.
Mr. Adepoju joined Federal Polytechnic Ayede on June 11, 2022, as a Lecturer III in the Department of General Studies under the School of Management Sciences. He has since served in several key institutional roles, including as Member and Secretary of the Corporate Communication Committee, Member of the Ceremonies Committee, and Secretary of the Department’s Academic Board.
In recognition of his rich background in journalism and communication, he was appointed Assistant Registrar (Protocols and Public Relations) and Head of the newly created unit on March 1, 2023.
A native of Ogbomoso, Adepoju is a seasoned communicator, journalist, researcher, and public relations practitioner. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan. He also earned a National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in 2005.
Additionally, Mr. Adepoju holds various professional certifications, including those in Online Journalism (UNESCO/UI), Peace Journalism (JDPC Ibadan), and Photography & Film Production (KSYCV/NYSC). He is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Oyo State Chapter.
Before joining the Polytechnic, Adepoju worked with media organisations such as Nigerian Tribune, Ogbomoso Insight, and served as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Calabar. He has also worked as a communication consultant and co-publisher of Pan-Nigerian News.
He has authored academic publications and regularly contributes opinion pieces to national newspapers and online platforms. He has also participated in numerous workshops and seminars on communication, digital media, public relations, conflict management, and academic development.
