Outstanding Student of Federal Polytechnic Ayede Receives Honor from Yaba Tech and Women’s World
Miss Arinola Ibukunoluwa Taiwo, a remarkable National Diploma II student from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology at Federal Polytechnic Ayede in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has been awarded a prestigious “Certificate of Achievement.”
This recognition was bestowed upon her after she delivered an exceptional presentation at a research program attended by students from various universities and polytechnics across Nigeria.
The event, held at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, was part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Sciences, organized by Women in Technical Education and Employment (WITED) in collaboration with the UNEVOC Centre for Research and Sustainable Development, a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekule Abdul-Hameed, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, expressed his admiration for Miss Taiwo’s outstanding presentation, which earned her this esteemed honor from the event organizers. He commended her achievement and encouraged other students at the institution to follow her example by delivering brilliant performances.
Miss Taiwo’s project, titled “Isolation/Culturing of Microbes in Vended Watermelon Using Specific Agar,” was recognized as one of the best among the participants.
The success she attained can be attributed to the support and opportunities provided by Federal Polytechnic Ayede, as well as the assistance from WITED Federal Polytechnic Ayede chapter and the dedication of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology.
Additionally, Mrs. Motunrayo Babatunde, a renowned on-air personality and the promoter of Women’s World in Oyo State, presented Miss Taiwo with an award at the 2024 International Day of Women celebration, held at Ogbomoso Recreation Club on Ilorin Road. The event was attended by members of the WITED Polytechnic chapter, led by Engr. Dr. Temilola M. Adepoju. Mrs. Babatunde’s gesture served as an encouragement for Miss Taiwo and other aspiring female scientists to explore the numerous opportunities available to them.
The Rector concluded by urging prospective students, parents, and guardians to consider Federal Polytechnic Ayede as their top choice for admission. The institution, which is only three years old, has achieved remarkable success, exemplified by the outstanding accomplishments of Miss Taiwo and other students.
With twelve National Diploma programs on offer, including fields such as engineering, computer science, tourism management, and more, Federal Polytechnic Ayede stands as an excellent educational destination that upholds the values of “Learning, Dexterity, and Morals.”
