In a major stride toward enhancing access to higher education financing and streamlining institutional processes, the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, has demonstrated its commitment to innovation by actively participating in a high-level technical workshop hosted by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
Representing the institution at the workshop, held at Chida International Hotel in Abuja, were Mr. Pious Adepoju, Director of ICT, and Alhaji Idris Ismail, the institution’s NELFUND Desk Officer. The workshop brought together key stakeholders, rectors, ICT directors, and desk officers from tertiary institutions across Nigeria, with the central goal of automating the student loan application process and fostering seamless collaboration between institutions and NELFUND.
The initiative is part of a broader national effort to simplify access to student loans and promote educational opportunities across the country. Discussions during the workshop emphasized the need for robust data collection, validation, and protection systems to ensure efficient and timely loan disbursements, which are critical in addressing educational financing challenges.
Mr. Adepoju and Alhaji Ismail expressed their gratitude to the Federal Government for introducing such transformative programs. They also acknowledged the support of the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE), and the institution’s management for their unwavering commitment to capacity building and innovation.
“This workshop is a trailblazing initiative that underscores the commitment of our government to enhance educational financing and support systems across higher institutions,” remarked Engr. Dr. Abdul-Hameed. “It is imperative that our institution remains at the forefront of these developments to ensure that our students have unfettered access to quality education.”
The event concluded with powerful closing remarks from Honourable Fuad Laguda, Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Polytechnics and Allied Institutions. He emphasized the need for effective communication and institutional responsiveness, reiterating his commitment to the advancement of polytechnic education in Nigeria.
With this engagement, Federal Polytechnic Ayede continues to position itself as a progressive institution leveraging innovation to overcome educational financing barriers.
