The Federal Polytechnic Ayede has joined stakeholders across the nation in congratulating the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on his recent conferment of the prestigious Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) national honour by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The award was announced during the President’s June 12 Democracy Day address to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, recognizing Dr. Alausa for his outstanding service and transformative impact in the education sector.
Speaking on behalf of the institution, Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Yakubu Dati (FNIPR), lauded the Minister’s dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to reforming Nigeria’s educational landscape.
“Dr. Alausa’s relentless dedication to advancing education in Nigeria is commendable,” Dati said. “His bold advocacy for practice-oriented degree programmes demonstrates not just foresight, but a deep understanding of the nation’s evolving workforce needs. This honour is a well-deserved recognition of his contributions.”
The Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed (FNSE), through a statement signed by the institution’s Acting Director, Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, echoed similar sentiments. He praised Dr. Alausa’s visionary efforts and highlighted the broader impact of his dual-sector leadership experience.
“We are elated to see Minister Alausa celebrated at such a national level,” the Rector stated. “His remarkable record—from his previous role in the Health Ministry to his current innovations in education—demonstrates a leader who understands the critical link between policy, practice, and people. His strategic reforms are well-timed responses to urgent educational and labour market challenges.”
The Polytechnic also highlighted Dr. Alausa’s international credentials, including his dual-time recognition as ‘America’s Best Physician’ and board certification in Nephrology, as further testimony to his capacity to deliver results across borders and disciplines.
Dr. Alausa’s push for practical, employability-focused degree programmes and his vocal stance on curbing the ‘japa’ syndrome among professionals, especially medical graduates, have earned him wide acclaim.
“As we celebrate this national honour,” the Rector affirmed, “the Federal Polytechnic Ayede community remains steadfast in supporting progressive educational policies that promote innovation, skill development, and global competitiveness.”
