Former Ekiti Governor Fayose Praises Sitting Governor Oyebanji’s Performance

In a surprising turn of events, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has commended the performance of the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

During a media engagement on Tuesday, Fayose, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), praised Governor Oyebanji, stating that he has been exceeding expectations and that he has seen the governor’s good works firsthand.

“As a PDP member and an elder statesman, I cannot tell lies, and I must say that Governor Oyebanji is truly performing well. He is exceeding expectations. I see his good works and will not join the bandwagon to condemn them,” Fayose said.

Fayose, who served as governor of Ekiti State from 2003 to 2010 and from 2015 to 2018, also acknowledged that the current governor has visited him 13 times, despite the fact that he was not involved in Oyebanji’s election campaign and supported the PDP candidate, Bisi Kolawole.

“A sitting Governor has visited me 13 times with his entourage, calling me his leader. Do you expect me to turn him away?” Fayose questioned.

The former governor also dismissed claims that his interactions with the current governor make him an APC member, stating that he is a PDP member and an elder statesman who must respect both Governor Oyebanji and former Governor Fayemi.

Fayose’s praise for Governor Oyebanji’s performance comes as a surprise, as the former governor is known for his outspoken and sometimes confrontational approach to politics. However, his acknowledgment of the current governor’s achievements has been met with mixed reactions from both the PDP and APC supporters in the state.
