Government approves new wage award for all workers

The Bayelsa State Government has responded to the economic challenges faced by workers by granting approval for the disbursement of N35,000 wage awards to employees in its Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MbbDAs).

During a visit by the leadership of the South-South Zone of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to Government House, Yenagoa, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo disclosed this information. He stated that Governor Douye Diri sanctioned the wage awards in line with the Federal Government’s directive for states to utilize funds from oil subsidy removal to alleviate the financial burden on workers.

Ewhrudjakpo emphasized the crucial role of the civil service in the efficiency of any government. He stressed that those who nglect or undermine the civil service are essentially undermining their own success in governance. Recognizing the significance of civil servants as implementers of government policies and programs, the Bayelsa State Government places great importance on its civil service.

Ewhrudjakpo expressed gratitude for the support received from civil servants and assured that the government takes matters affecting them seriously. He confirmed that the state government is up to date with salary payments and highlighted that the approved wage awards for civil servants in the state will be promptly processed by the Head of Servicethe Bayelsa State Government has approved the disbursement of N35,000 wage awards to employees in its MDAs, aiming to alleviate the financial challenges faced by workers.
