Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on Wednesday joined his colleagues in the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) on a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, following the passing of his mother, Mrs. Lydia Yilwatda.
The governors, led by PGF Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, were received by Prof. Yilwatda at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.
Governor Oyebanji, speaking during the visit, described the late Mrs. Yilwatda as a woman of honour whose values of faith, discipline, and service are evident in the life of her son, the APC National Chairman. He commiserated with Prof. Yilwatda and prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in the impactful life lived by the deceased.
The Ekiti Governor also reaffirmed his personal solidarity with Prof. Yilwatda, noting that beyond politics, moments of grief demand compassion, unity, and support among leaders.
Prof. Yilwatda, in his response, expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji and the other visiting governors, saying their presence was a great source of comfort and strength to him and his family.
The condolence visit highlights Governor Oyebanji’s consistent commitment to strengthening bonds of friendship and solidarity within the APC, even in times of personal loss.
