The Directorate of Legal Affairs for the re-election campaign of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has announced the appointment of Hon. Barr. Babatunde Oke as Secretary of the Directorate ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State.
Oke, a seasoned legal practitioner and lawmaker, currently serves as Chairman of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters. With over a decade of experience in legal practice, his appointment is seen as a strategic move by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strengthen its legal framework as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
The party noted that the appointment reflects its commitment to maintaining high standards of electoral integrity, transparency, and strict adherence to legal processes throughout the election cycle.
Representing Ikere Constituency I in the 7th Assembly, Oke also serves as the Spokesperson of the House. He previously held the position of State Assistant Legal Adviser of the APC in Ekiti State and played a key role as Secretary of the Legal Team for Governor Oyebanji during the 2022 governorship election.
In addition, he served as a National Delegate at the APC presidential primary convention that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s candidate in the last presidential election.
With his expertise in litigation, constitutional law, and election dispute resolution, Oke is expected to lead legal strategies, ensure compliance with electoral laws, and provide advisory support to safeguard the democratic process.
The Directorate of Legal Affairs will coordinate all legal components of the election, including pre-election preparations, voter education on legal rights, and post-election dispute management, positioning itself as a critical arm of the campaign structure.
