Just In! Gunmen kill Woman in Ado-Ekiti, Making Four in One Month

In a disturbing turn of events, a middle-aged woman has been shot and killed by unknown gunmen in Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State. This latest tragedy marks the fourth street shooting incident in the area within the past month.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred around 7 AM this morning near the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti Continuing Education Center, off NTA Road. The victim, estimated to be around 50 years old, was approached by the assailants on a motorcycle who attempted to snatch her bag.

In the ensuing struggle, the criminals opened fire, fatally wounding the woman. The gunmen then fled the scene. Residents in the area were sent into a panic, with traders hastily closing up shop and fleeing for safety.

DSP Sunday Abutu, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the incident appears to have been a robbery attempt. He revealed that the victim’s bag contained 40,280 Naira, which the perpetrators failed to steal before making their escape.

The body of the victim has been deposited in the morgue, and the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. This latest tragedy comes on the heels of a series of shootings that have rocked the city in recent weeks, leaving the community on edge.

Authorities have assured residents that they are working diligently to apprehend those responsible and restore a sense of security to the area. Local leaders have also called for heightened vigilance and cooperation from the public to help prevent such senseless acts of violence from occurring in the future.
