The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced the expiration of the tenure for its Local Government Area (LGA) and State Executive Committees in Ekiti State. This announcement was made in a notification dated August 29, 2024, highlighting that the current committees were elected four years ago, with their tenure concluding on August 26 and 29, 2024, respectively.
According to the party’s constitution, this expiration results from the effluxion of time as outlined in Section 47. To ensure a seamless transition and avoid any leadership vacuum, the National Working Committee (NWC) has approved the establishment of a State Caretaker Committee. This interim committee will oversee the party’s activities in Ekiti State until new executive committee members are elected.
In the notification, Hon. Umar M. Bature, the National Organizing Secretary, expressed gratitude for the service rendered by the outgoing committees. He extended assurances of the NWC’s highest regards for their contributions to the party’s goals and objectives.
The announcement was also copied to key party leaders, including H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, Deputy National Chairman (South), and Engr. Ajisafe Kamoru Toyese, National Vice Chairman (South West), ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of the changes.
