In a bold move to strengthen youth engagement in national development, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) is partnering with the National Assembly Library TrustFund (NALTF) to organize a National Youth Dialogue on Social Reforms through Legislative Actions.
The initiative took a significant step forward on Monday, August 4, 2025, when the National Social Secretary of NYCN, Comrade Benjamin Adekunle Onileowo, led a delegation of vibrant young professionals to a high-level strategy meeting with the NALTF management. The session was aimed at exploring synergies for a youth-centered collaboration focused on education, empowerment, and legislative awareness.
Speaking during the engagement, Comrade Onileowo reaffirmed the NYCN’s commitment to mobilizing and equipping Nigerian youth as key agents of sustainable national transformation. He emphasized the importance of educating young citizens on legislative processes and social policy reforms, asserting that informed youth advocacy is crucial for driving meaningful change in Nigeria.
The proposed partnership will leverage the strengths of both organizations — NYCN’s vast youth network and NALTF’s access to legislative knowledge resources — to organize a national dialogue platform that gives young Nigerians a voice in shaping policy and reform agendas.
This meeting signals a new chapter in youth-led initiatives, grounded in access to information, participatory governance, and strategic collaboration. Both institutions expressed optimism about the possibilities this partnership will unlock, particularly in creating platforms for civic education and legislative engagement among the youth.
The dialogue is expected to roll out in the coming months and will feature youth representatives, lawmakers, civil society actors, and policy experts in constructive discussions aimed at shaping Nigeria’s future through social and legislative reform.
This announcement was made by Engr. Ale Oyewole Adegbuyi, Head of Media, Communication, and Public Affairs in the Office of the National Social Secretary at the NYCN Headquarters in Abuja.
