Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a prominent aspirant for the 2026 Ekiti Governorship election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating condition of roads in Ekiti State. In a recent statement, Fayose called out the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for his administration’s failure to address the worsening infrastructural decay in the state.
Fayose described the state of Ekiti roads as “completely unacceptable,” noting that the situation has become even more dire with the onset of the rainy season. “The roads in Ekiti are in a deplorable state, and there is no excuse for it. The situation becomes particularly dangerous when it rains—floodwaters cover roads, making them impassable and putting commuters at serious risk,” he said.
The governorship aspirant further criticized the Oyebanji administration for failing to prioritize road repairs and maintenance, despite the substantial federal allocations the state continues to receive. Fayose expressed concern for the daily struggles faced by Ekiti residents, particularly in rural areas where poor road conditions are severely affecting transportation, business, and access to essential services.
“Ekiti people are suffering because of these bad roads. It’s not just a matter of convenience—it’s about the safety and livelihoods of the people. The state government has failed to provide the basic infrastructure that residents can rely on,” Fayose stated.
Fayose called on Governor Oyebanji to urgently repair and maintain the state’s road networks, stressing that neglecting this critical issue could have a lasting negative impact on the state’s economy and the well-being of its people.
