The ranks of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s loyalists appear to be thinning as Oguntosin Akin Raymond, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), has resigned his appointment as a part-time member of the Ekiti State Multipurpose Credit Agency.
In a letter dated October 2, 2025, and received at the Governor’s Office the following day, Raymond informed the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. (Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro, of his decision to step down with immediate effect.
“I hereby resign my appointment as a part-time member of the Ekiti State Multipurpose Credit Agency with immediate effect. I thank the Ekiti State Government for the recognition accorded me with the appointment,” the letter read.
Though Raymond did not state any reason for his resignation, his decision has fueled speculation of growing discontent within Oyebanji’s camp. Observers note that this development adds to a pattern of political realignments in Ekiti, where several appointees and allies have in recent months quietly withdrawn from government roles.
The Multipurpose Credit Agency, where Raymond served, is considered strategic to the state’s economic agenda, providing access to financial support for businesses and individuals. His exit, analysts argue, could signal deeper cracks in Oyebanji’s political structure as Ekiti inches closer to another election cycle.
Neither Raymond nor the state government has offered further clarification, but political watchers suggest that the resignation may be tied to shifting alliances and internal party disagreements.
With this move, Governor Oyebanji faces yet another test of loyalty within his administration.
