
PDP Governorship Aspirant, Peter Obafemi, Consoles Governor Makinde Over Brother’s Death
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for the 2026 Ekiti State election, Otunba Peter Obafemi, has expressed his condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over the passing of his elder brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, who died at the age of 65.
In a statement released by OPO Media Vanguard and shared with journalists on Saturday, Obafemi described the late Engr. Sunday Makinde as a peaceful, humble, and God-fearing individual who made significant contributions to the development of Oyo State.
“Engr. Sunday Makinde was a patriotic Nigerian who played essential roles in the growth of Oyo State,” the statement read. “In particular, he was a pillar of support to Governor Seyi Makinde in his dedicated service to the people of Oyo State.”
Obafemi highlighted Sunday Makinde’s selflessness and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Oyo State, which he said stemmed from his strong bond with his younger brother, Governor Makinde, and their shared dedication to public service.
“I deeply share in Governor Makinde’s pain at this moment of grief, knowing the anguish of losing a very close and dearly beloved elder brother,” Obafemi said.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Makinde, the wife and children of the deceased, and the people of Oyo State.
“We pray to God to comfort his family and grant his soul a peaceful repose,” he concluded.
The death of Engr. Sunday Makinde marks a significant loss for the Makinde family and Oyo State at large.
