The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to members engaging in anti-party activities, particularly those publicly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
In a statement released on Friday, August 8, 2025, the party expressed serious concern over persistent media outbursts by some prominent members, whose actions and declarations of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in the next election violate the PDP Constitution.
Quoting Section 10(6) of the party’s constitution (as amended in 2017), the NWC reminded members that “no member of the Party shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the Party or any of its elected government.”
The PDP leadership stressed that such activities have been detrimental to the party’s unity, causing division, disaffection, and loss of members, which could weaken its electoral chances if left unchecked.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Section 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, the NWC hereby issues a strong reprimand against such anti-party activities and cautions those involved to retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions,” the statement read.
The NWC also urged members to remain loyal and committed to the party’s goals, especially ahead of its National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The statement was signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba.
