Salary Increase for Civil Servants Approved by FG

The Federal Government has given its approval for a salary increase ranging from 25% to 35% for civil servants on six remaining Consolidated Salary Structures.

These structures include the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

It should be noted that the salary increases for those in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors have already been implemented. This includes the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) for universities, as well as the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS) for polytechnics and colleges of education.

The Health Sector has also received increases through the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

According to a statement issued by Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), the salary increases will be effective from January 1, 2024.

Furthermore, the Federal Government has approved pension increases ranging from 20% to 28% for pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme who are covered by the aforementioned six consolidated salary structures. The pension increases will also take effect from January 1, 2024.
