The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured their place in the final after a pulsating 1–1 draw at full time against Gabon in the semi-final clash played on Thursday evening at a neutral venue in Morocco.
It was a fiercely contested encounter from start to finish. Nigeria showed early determination, with Wilfred Ndidi receiving a caution in the 6th minute as both sides fought for control. Gabon’s captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, was also booked just before halftime in the 44th minute, as tempers flared in a goalless first half.
The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Adams A. finished off a fine move to hand Nigeria a well-deserved 1–0 lead. The Super Eagles appeared to be cruising to victory until Gabon’s Mario Lemina struck late in the 89th minute to make it 1–1, forcing the game into extra time.
Both sides pressed hard during the additional period, but Nigeria’s defense stood firm to keep the score level, a result that ensured their passage to the final based on superior performance through the tournament.
The Super Eagles will now contest the grand finale on Sunday in Morocco, where they will face either Cameroon or DR Congo.
With this result, Nigeria edge one step closer to glory, continuing their impressive run and determination to lift the trophy on Moroccan soil.
