Tinubu Appoints Adeyeye as New NPA Board Chairman

In a move to bolster the operations and efficiency of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), President Bola Tinubu has announced key leadership changes at the agency.

Effective immediately, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the NPA. Dr. Dantsoho brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served in various senior positions within the NPA, including as Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager in Onne, and Principal Manager for Tariff & Billing.

Dr. Dantsoho holds a Doctorate degree in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, as well as a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University in Wales.

President Tinubu has also appointed Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as the new Chairman of the NPA’s Board of Directors. Senator Adeyeye is a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician, with prior experience as a Minister of State for Works and as a Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

In a statement, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, expressed confidence in the new leadership team, stating, “The President expects the new leadership of this pivotal agency to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.”

The appointments come at a critical time for the Nigerian maritime sector, as the country seeks to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of its port operations. Stakeholders are hopeful that the new leadership at the NPA will drive transformative changes and unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s ports.
