A member of the Ekiti State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) media team and political analyst, Mr. Ajayi Tosin Emmanuel, popularly known as Tosin Oshoko, has expressed deep concern over the declining state of the party both at the state and national levels. In a press briefing with SOLIDSTARNEWS reporter in Ado-Ekiti, Oshoko painted a grim picture of the PDP’s internal crisis, warning that the party might become history if urgent steps are not taken.
Mr. Ajayi, who will be clocking 12 years as a committed member of the PDP in a few months, lamented that the current state of the party is the worst he has witnessed since joining. According to him, the failure of leadership, internal crisis, and lack of structure are major signs that the PDP is heading toward extinction.
By God’s grace, I will be 12 years in PDP in a few months time, and I can say it has never been this bad. What we are witnessing today is a total departure from the principles and values that built this party, he stated.
He questioned how a political party hoping to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to have a substantive state chairman just months before crucial primaries. He described it as embarrassing and a reflection of how deep-rooted the crisis in the party has become.
Beyond the state-level issues, Mr. Tosin pointed to the confusion and division within the PDP at the national level. He cited the ongoing leadership tussle where the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister is reportedly supporting Senator Anyanwu, while another faction promotes Okoye as the party’s secretary a situation he described as a house divided against itself.
As at today, the PDP is in a state of comatose. If things continue this way, we may not even have a party to talk about in the next few years. Leaders who were supposed to mentor the youth are now the ones leading us astray, he added.
When asked about the way forward, the media strategist didn’t mince words in declaring that divine intervention might be the only hope for the PDP.
The only way out now is God’s intervention. All human efforts have continued to fail. Until we return to God and reset our values, PDP will keep sinking, Mr. Tosin declared solemnly.
His comments have sparked reactions within political circles in Ekiti and beyond, with many seeing his message as a wake-up call to stakeholders in the PDP to take immediate steps to rescue the party from impending collapse.
As the countdown to the 2026 elections begins, only time will tell if the PDP can resolve its internal conflicts and regain the trust of the electorate or become a shadow of its former self.
