Hon. (Dr.) Aderemi Adekunle Oseni, Member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has distanced himself from a report credited to a faceless group known as Igba Otun, dismissing it as “cheap blackmail and irresponsible propaganda.”
The controversial publication had alleged that Oseni was quietly plotting for the 2027 Oyo governorship race, with a supposed plan to edge out prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders such as Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin and Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
But in a strongly worded statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by the Remi Oseni Media Office (ROMO) and signed by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, the lawmaker rejected the claim in its entirety.
“We state unequivocally that Hon. Aderemi Oseni has no link whatsoever with the so-called Igba Otun group. He neither commissioned, endorsed, nor authorized such divisive propaganda. This reckless publication is nothing more than the handiwork of desperate political opportunists, designed to sow disunity within the Oyo APC,” the statement read.
Oseni stressed his deep respect for the party leaders allegedly targeted, describing Chief Adelabu as “a close friend and a brother,” and Senator Folarin as “an elder brother, political leader and mentor.” He added: “Any attempt to malign their reputation or push them out of the political space cannot, and will never, be associated with me.”
The statement further clarified that the lawmaker has not declared interest in the 2027 governorship race. “Hon. Oseni remains fully focused on delivering effective representation to his constituents, discharging his legislative responsibilities, and working with leaders and stakeholders to rebuild and reposition the APC in Oyo State,” Ayodele explained.
He argued that the timing of the report, emerging just after the APC’s by-election loss, was suspicious, pointing to what he called “enemies of progress who would rather weaken the APC than unite it.”
“This is a classic case of political mischief,” the statement noted. “We urge party members, supporters and the general public to treat the so-called Igba Otun statement with the disdain it deserves.”
Reaffirming Oseni’s loyalty to the APC, the media office concluded: “Hon. Oseni is a man of integrity whose politics has always been issue-based and devoid of propaganda or divisive tendencies. He remains committed to working with all leaders, stakeholders and members to consolidate unity and restore the APC’s winning strength ahead of future elections.”
