A tragic incident has been reported in Ondo State following the sudden death of a middle-aged woman, Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, who reportedly slumped while accompanying her daughter to sit for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday in Ilara-Mokin, a community in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, where the examination was being held.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, disclosed in a statement issued in Akure that authorities were alerted shortly after the woman collapsed at the examination centre.
He noted that officers responded promptly to the situation but the woman was confirmed dead at the scene.
According to the police, the remains of the deceased have been released to her family after proper identification. Her son, Mr. Apapa Olamilekan, said to be an officer of the Nigeria Legion in Akure, arrived at the location and identified the body.
The police command expressed condolences to the bereaved family and appealed to members of the public to remain calm as the incident has been brought under control.
