Eight Arrested in Connection to Murder of University of Maiduguri Lecturer

In the wake of the tragic murder of Abdulkadir Kamal, a lecturer in the Physical and Health Education Department at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), the Borno State Police Command has taken swift action by apprehending eight suspects who are allegedly connected to the crime.

Kenneth Nahun, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, has confirmed the arrests. While Nahun did not specify whether the detained individuals were students, there has been speculation about the motive for the lecturer’s murder, particularly regarding his role as the examination officer for the department.

The investigation began when the university’s chief security officer reported the discovery of Kamal’s lifeless body on Sunday. In response, the police from Gwange Division were dispatched to the scene and apprehended the suspects mentioned earlier. Authorities have initiated investigations to uncover both the perpetrators and the circumstances surrounding the killing.

According to Nahun, Kamal suffered multiple stab wounds from knives and daggers, eventually succumbing to his injuries in a pool of blood.

Danjuma Gambo, a spokesperson for the University of Maiduguri, has revealed that the institution has granted permission for a thorough police investigation to determine the motives behind the murder and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
