Davido Gifts Mayorkun Brand New Tesla Cybertruck, Reaffirms Longstanding Friendship

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has gifted a brand new Tesla Cybertruck to his longtime associate and former record label signee, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun.

Davido announced the surprise gift on his Instagram Story, where he shared a photo of the futuristic electric vehicle alongside a heartfelt message to the singer.

“My gift to you. I love you #mayorkun,” Davido wrote, before adding, “@babzii_chilling pls have it delivered 2moro.”

The gesture has drawn widespread admiration from fans, who described it as another testament to the strong bond shared by the two award-winning artistes despite Mayorkun’s departure from Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

Mayorkun’s rise to fame began in 2016 after Davido discovered him on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, where the budding singer had shared a cover of one of Davido’s songs. Impressed by his talent, Davido signed him to DMW, providing the platform that launched his successful music career.

During his time with the label, Mayorkun established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading Afrobeats stars, releasing a string of hit songs, including Eleko, Mama and Cheche, which earned him widespread acclaim across Africa and beyond.

Although Mayorkun later exited DMW to pursue an independent career, his relationship with Davido has remained cordial. The duo have continued to collaborate on music projects, support each other’s careers and publicly celebrate important milestones.

Davido’s latest gift further underscores the enduring friendship between the two entertainers and highlights the loyalty that has characterised their relationship over the years. The Tesla Cybertruck, one of the world’s most talked-about electric vehicles, adds another memorable chapter to their long-standing association.
