NELFUND: 43 Institutions Yet to Refund Students’ Tuition Payments – NANS President

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, has released a list of tertiary institutions that have allegedly failed to refund students who paid their tuition fees before receiving disbursements from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

According to the NANS President, the affected institutions had already received tuition payments directly from NELFUND on behalf of eligible students but have yet to reimburse those who paid their school fees before the loan disbursement.

Akinteye said the publication of the list is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and ensuring that affected students receive the refunds due to them without further delay.

The institutions listed include Adamawa State University, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Federal College of Education Yola, Kaduna State Polytechnic, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, University of Uyo, Yobe State University, Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State University, Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ebonyi State University, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, University of Ilesa, Adekunle Ajasin University, Delta State University, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ekiti State University, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, University of Calabar, Rivers State University, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, and several others across the country.

He urged the management of the affected institutions to expedite the refund process, stressing that students should not be made to bear unnecessary financial burdens after NELFUND had already settled their tuition fees.

The NANS President also appealed to students to remain calm while continuing to engage their institutions through appropriate channels, expressing optimism that the refunds would be processed without further delay.

The publication has sparked reactions among students nationwide, with many calling on the affected institutions to immediately refund all eligible beneficiaries in line with the objectives of the NELFUND student loan scheme.
