The Ganduje Ward Executive Council in Kano State has taken a bold step by suspending Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision comes in response to persistent corruption allegations, particularly surrounding a widely circulated video allegedly showing Ganduje receiving bundles of dollars as a bribe.
Haruna Gwanjo, leading the Executive Council, announced the suspension during a press briefing held in Kano. The emergence of the video in 2017 sparked significant controversy and scrutiny, despite Ganduje’s consistent denial and claims of innocence.
The case has now been reopened by the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Ganduje is facing charges related to bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including allegations of accepting $413,000 and N1.38 billion in bribes.
The Kano High Court has scheduled the arraignment of Ganduje, along with his wife and six others, for Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The Yusuf administration is prepared to present 15 witnesses who will testify before Justice Usman Na’aba of the State High Court, making it a high-profile legal battle.
