Breaking News: Okpebholo wins edo election

Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken the lead in the Edo State governorship election, securing 291,667 votes. His closest contender, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,655 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) finished third with 22,763 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results from 18 local government areas on Sunday, positioning Okpebholo for a potential win ยน. However, the PDP in Edo has raised concerns, appealing to INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to review the results before declaring a winner.

Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, PDP Chairman in Edo, alleges discrepancies between electoral officers’ entries and actual results uploaded on INEC’s IREV at polling units. Specifically, Aziegbemi claims votes were inflated in favor of the APC by deducting from the PDP’s tally.
