In April, Cole Palmer, the talented 21-year-old midfielder, has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award, making him one of the six contenders. Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, Palmer has had a remarkable season, emerging as the club’s top scorer with an impressive tally of 23 goals across all competitions.
Despite this being his first season playing regularly in the Premier League, Palmer has quickly become a key player for Chelsea. In April, he continued his stellar form by scoring seven goals and providing an assist in just four appearances. Notably, he achieved back-to-back hat-tricks against Manchester United and Everton at Stamford Bridge, propelling him into contention for the Golden Boot.
While he currently trails his former teammate Erling Haaland, who leads the goal-scoring charts with 21 goals, Palmer’s outstanding performances in Chelsea’s last five games could help him secure the award. However, he faces tough competition from other nominees, including Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United, Kai Havertz from Arsenal, Jordan Pickford from Everton, Josko Gvardiol from Manchester City, and Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace.
In addition to the Player of the Month nomination, Palmer’s first goal against Everton is also in the running for the Premier League Goal of the Month. This nomination puts him in the company of eight other contenders, including Kevin De Bruyne and Kobbie Mainoo.
