The Principal of Christ the Cornerstone Model College in Oyo, Mr. Adedayo Ojo-Pio, has expressed great pride in the exemplary performance of his students in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In an interview with the online media platform solidstarnew.com, Mr. Ojo-Pio revealed that despite the general challenges faced by students across the country, many of the students from his school who sat for the examination impressed beyond his expectations.
“I want to proudly congratulate my students who have done themselves, their families, and the school proud by scoring amazing scores in the just concluded UTME,” said Mr. Ojo-Pio. “I want to thank the teachers of the school who have instilled in these children the essence of hard work and tenacity.”
Mr. Ojo-Pio highlighted the exceptional performances of several students, including the current Head Girl, Miss Motolani Adedokun, who scored 282, and another student, Samuel Odediran, who scored 297. Additionally, he noted that many other students scored as high as 250 and above, with an impressive 90% of the students achieving scores above 200.
The principal further emphasized that the trend of academic success has been sustained for years at Christ the Cornerstone Model College. He shared that three students from the previous set are currently studying medicine and surgery at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), while many more are pursuing various high-ranking courses, such as nursing science, medical laboratory science, law, and engineering.
Last year, the school celebrated the achievement of an alumna, Miss Tofunmi Oreoluwa Abodunrin, who was declared the first female first-class graduate in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Ilorin.
“It is a thing of joy to celebrate, and I am very happy, elated, and over the moon by the progress my students are making,” expressed Mr. Ojo-Pio.
The principal also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Visioner and Proprietress of the school, Mrs. B. O. Ojo, for her constant support, encouragement, and the provision of a conducive environment that has enabled the students to thrive academically.
This remarkable achievement by the students of Christ the Cornerstone Model College showcases the dedication and hard work of both the students and the school’s faculty, and it serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to strive for academic excellence.
