The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has launched a scathing attack on former governor Ayo Fayose, describing him as “a political retiree desperately seeking attention after losing relevance in the state’s political landscape.”
In a statement issued on Thursday by Hon. Yemi Ajanaku, Chairman of Local Government Chairmen of the PDP in Ekiti, the party said Fayose’s recent verbal attacks on the PDP were nothing more than “the bitter cries of a man who destroyed his own political career through greed, betrayal, and arrogance.”
“Let it be clear — Ayo Fayose’s political career is dead and buried. Ekiti people have rejected him. The PDP has moved on. What we are witnessing now is the noise of a lonely man whose influence disappeared the day he lost the trust of the very people who once believed in him,” the statement read.
The PDP leadership accused the former governor of years of manipulation and internal sabotage, claiming he imposed candidates, sold out party interests, and divided the ranks for personal benefit.
“He thrived on intimidation and deceit, and now that Ekiti PDP has broken free from his control, he can’t handle it. The era of ‘Fayose decides everything’ is gone forever,” Ajanaku added.
The statement further challenged Fayose to test his popularity independently, without using the PDP structure.
“If Fayose still thinks he matters, let him call a rally in Ado-Ekiti and see if even the people he used to pay will show up. Ekiti people are done with his drama. They want progress, not noise. They want leadership, not manipulation,” the party said.
Reaffirming its commitment to rebuilding the PDP in Ekiti ahead of the 2026 governorship election, the party emphasized that it would not be distracted by “expired politicians seeking relevance through insults and media theatrics.”
“The PDP in Ekiti is back on its feet, stronger, united, and ready to win again. Fayose can keep talking to himself on social media and in the press, but the train of progress has left the station — and he’s not even at the park,” Ajanaku concluded.
