Dr. Sani Man Yahya, represented by Deputy Rector (Academics), Alhaji I. A. Lawal; Rector of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, represented by Deputy Rector (Academics), Dr. Mrs. Mulikatu Aliu; and Provost of Federal College of Education, Iwo, Prof. R. A. Adebayo, represented by Registrar, Alhaji Yusuf Aderibigbe. Also present was Prof. Dayo Shobowale, Proprietor of DABOS Polytechnic, Osogbo, and former Deputy Rector (Academics) at Federal Polytechnic Ede, Dr. I. A. Adelabu.
In his address, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, welcomed the matriculating students and encouraged them to embrace hard work, discipline, and commitment to their studies. He highlighted the institution’s focus on technical education, innovation, and skill acquisition, noting that students must take full advantage of the learning opportunities available to them.
Matriculation is more than a ceremony; it is the start of an important academic and personal development journey. Federal Polytechnic Ayede is dedicated to providing you with the best education, both in theory and practical skills, to prepare you for the challenges of the modern world, he stated.
He further expressed his pride in the rapid growth of the institution, which was established in March 2021 and has now grown to accommodate over 1,200 students, making it the most subscribed polytechnic among its peers. He revealed that 12 National Diploma (ND) programs have been fully accredited, while efforts are underway to introduce 29 additional programs, including the long-anticipated Office Technology and Management (OTM) program.
The Rector reassured students and stakeholders that his administration remains committed to achieving full accreditation for all programs before the end of his tenure. He also announced that the institution has successfully facilitated student financial aid through the NELFUND loan scheme, with 44 students already benefiting and more applications being processed.
The matriculation ceremony also featured the administration of the Matriculation Oath by the Registrar, officially inducting the new students into the institution. This solemn exercise served as a reminder of their responsibilities as students and their obligation to uphold the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.
In his goodwill message, the Aresa-Pupa of Iresa-Pupa, Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye, congratulated the matriculating students and commended the polytechnic’s leadership for its commitment to academic excellence. He expressed his pride in hosting the institution in his domain and assured the management of his continued support in fostering a conducive learning environment.
Other dignitaries also took turns to appreciate the progress of the polytechnic, acknowledging its impressive strides in providing quality technical and vocational education. The representatives from sister institutions expressed their willingness to collaborate with Federal Polytechnic Ayede in research, academic exchange, and capacity-building programs.
Matriculating students expressed their excitement at being part of the institution, describing it as a dream come true. Some of them shared their aspirations, noting that they looked forward to acquiring both academic knowledge and practical experience that would position them for success in their chosen fields.
Parents and guardians who attended the ceremony also lauded the polytechnic for its dedication to student welfare, infrastructural development, and academic excellence. They urged the management to continue improving facilities and ensuring a smooth academic experience for the students.
