“This is more than compliance,” said Hon. Dati. “It’s a demonstration of our belief that transparency breeds trust. We want our students, staff, parents, and community to know that this institution belongs to them and we are accountable.”
Indeed, it’s no small feat. According to Punch Online (June 3, 2025), only 19.51% of federal polytechnics and a meager 3.33% of federal monotechnics have met the transparency deadline. Yet Ayede didn’t just tick the box — it set the gold standard. The Polytechnic’s budget page, now live and accessible to the public, has been praised for its user-friendly design and comprehensive data.
Rector Engr. Dr. Abdul-Hameed emphasized the deliberate strategy behind the success. “We didn’t just want to do it. We wanted to do it right. Transparency, for us, isn’t just a word it’s a principle of leadership,” he said. “From budget disclosures to project accountability, our community deserves to see how every kobo is spent.”
The institution’s bold move has not gone unnoticed. The Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership, which is closely monitoring compliance across the country, hailed Federal Polytechnic Ayede as “a model for 21st-century governance in education.”
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, also emphasized the importance of digital accessibility, urging all institutions to follow suit. And in that spirit, Ayede has become more than a polytechnic it has become a movement for openness, good governance, and excellence.
