The Federal Government has officially launched a digital portal for the Nigeria Youth Conference, widely referred to as the National Youth Confab, as part of ongoing efforts to involve young Nigerians in shaping national policies and development strategies.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayode Olawande, made the announcement on Monday, describing the conference as more than a ceremonial event. According to him, it marks a “generational shift,” “a nationwide movement,” and “an urgent call to action” for Nigerian youth.
President Bola Tinubu first proposed the idea of a 30-day youth-driven conference during his Independence Day address on October 1, 2024. The event is now scheduled to take place in February 2025.
To oversee preparations, a 44-member planning committee was inaugurated by the President on March 10, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Unveiling the conference theme — “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future” Olawande said the Confab would be youth-led, inclusive, and non-partisan. He added that the newly launched portal would serve as an interactive hub for registration, idea submission, and real-time updates throughout the conference.
The Confab will follow a multi-tiered structure, beginning with grassroots consultations across Nigeria’s 360 federal constituencies, followed by inputs from Nigerians in the diaspora, zonal deliberations in six states, and a final national gathering in Abuja to consolidate all contributions.
