The Ekiti State Police Command arraigned 31-year-old Segun Taiwo before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged theft.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, the defendant and one other person, who is currently at large, committed the offense on May 18 around 10:00 a.m. in the Basiri Area of Ado-Ekiti.
Inspector Bamikole alleged that the defendant and his accomplice stole a laptop worth ₦80,000 belonging to Abdulrahaman Rashidat.
The prosecutor stated that the offense contravenes Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. He requested that the case be adjourned to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant’s counsel, Mr. Akinbobola Akingbade, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦20,000 with one surety in the like sum and adjourned the case to June 20 for further hearing.
