Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is a member of the Federal Government’s Tripartite Committee, has announced that the committee will reveal a new minimum wage figure by the end of its meeting on Friday.
Uzodimma confirmed that the committee is set to reconvene at 11 AM on June 7th to finalize the new minimum wage amount. He refuted rumors that a figure of ₦105,000 had already been agreed upon, stating that no such decision has been reached yet.
The Tripartite Committee, which includes representatives from the Federal Government and organized labor groups like the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), has been meeting to determine the new minimum wage.
Their previous meeting was held on Wednesday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja. Key attendees included the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; as well as the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, and TUC President, Festus Osifo.
The public can expect the Tripartite Committee to announce the new minimum wage figure by the end of its meeting on June 7th.
