Nigerian Labour Congress Shuts Down JEDC Headquarters Over Electricity Tariff Hike

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has taken action against the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) in Plateau State by shutting down its headquarters.

This move comes in response to the recent increase in electricity tariffs.

Reports indicate that the NLC blocked the main gate of the company, leaving the JEDC staff stranded outside the building.

The labor union, along with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), had previously announced their intention to close the offices of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Distribution Companies (DisCos) nationwide.

This protest is a direct result of the failure of these entities to comply with the demand for a complete reversal of the electricity tariff hike.
