Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, over an alleged assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.
In an official letter dated February 13, 2025, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, the university stated that the decision followed a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC), which found the student guilty of gross misconduct and violation of Student Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, after reviewing the committee’s recommendations, approved the expulsion on behalf of the University Senate. The letter emphasized that the decision takes immediate effect, and the student is required to vacate the university premises and return any university property in their possession.
The expulsion notice was copied to key university officials, including the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs, Head of Department, and the Chief Legal Officer.
This action reinforces Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding ethical standards within its academic environment.
