Residents and road users in the Agbowo Garage area of Ogbomosho have raised alarm over the deteriorating state of a vital road connecting several neighborhoods and key establishments, appealing to Honourable Olamijuwonlo Akala for urgent intervention.
The affected road, which stretches for less than a kilometer, links Agbowo Garage to Gbomojo Hospital and further connects to Frigos Table Water and TM Arena Bar—locations frequented by residents and visitors alike. Despite its relatively short length, the road serves as a crucial artery, connecting more than six surrounding roads and facilitating access to residential, commercial, and health facilities in the area.
A concerned resident and staff member of Ayede Polytechnic, Mr. Olumide Akomolafe, who also resides in the area, expressed deep concern over the worsening condition of the road. In a heartfelt appeal addressed to Hon. Akala, he highlighted the growing risks associated with the poor road, including damage to vehicles, increased theft, and general insecurity.
“Many of us now park our cars by the roadside due to the road’s impassable state. Unfortunately, this has led to an alarming rise in thefts and concerns about the safety of both lives and property,” Akomolafe noted.
Although a native of Ekiti State, Akomolafe emphasized the importance of contributing positively to the development of his host community in Ogbomosho. He urged Hon. Akala to use his influence to facilitate the grading or rehabilitation of the road, which would bring immense relief to hundreds of commuters and residents in the area.
He further reminded the Honourable of his previous civic contribution the viral video highlighting the poor state of the Ogbomosho–Oyo road which prompted parliamentary discussion and action, thanks to Hon. Akala’s response on the floor of the House.
The road in question remains ungraded, with visible erosion, potholes, and poor drainage, creating a daily nightmare for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Residents are hopeful that this renewed call will draw the necessary attention of government authorities and result in prompt infrastructural intervention.
